Client Story: Simone
Simone was single, pregnant, living on the coast, and just three weeks from her delivery date when she met Mary, a CCS staff member in our Family Support and Connections program. During the intake meeting, Mary learned that Simone was homeless and was sleeping at night on the back porch of a local church.
Simone said she had been sleeping in this same spot for more than a year. She was fearful that she wouldn’t be able to find housing before the baby was born. Mary immediately connected Simone with Jack, a CCS staff member in our Rapid Rehousing program. Jack determined that Simone was eligible for assistance, but first she had to find a place to rent.
Mary then helped Simone submit rental applications at a number of places. Thankfully, she was approved for a modest apartment just a few days before the birth of her baby. Mary continues to provide both material and emotional support for Simone, and CCS will continue to provide her with rental assistance through the Rapid Rehousing program.
Simone and her baby still have a long way to go. However, with the help of people like you, they now have a safe place to live and they are moving in a positive direction.
