Donor Story

Thank you to the recent Winter Clothing Drive Collection Sites. With their generous contibutions, CCS collected nearly 5,000 warm articles of clothing and linens for local families and individuals in January and February.  Each of those warm items will be given to someone in need at no charge to them. Giving away clothing and warm linens is an easy yet extremely personal way to help others, and it is a gift that is received in a very personal way by those we serve. Those like Shannon and Dave.

Shannon and Dave were expecting their third child, but not expecting him two months early. Shannon was in a car accident and the doctors were worried about the baby. They delivered him early and he spent two months in the NICU. This couple was completely unprepared for this baby arriving early and spent so much energy in the NICU they didn’t have the chance to gather the necessary items once he came home. Their only income at the time was Dave’s temporary part-time job. Mary, CCS staff, was able to locate preemie baby clothing, baby blankets, a bassinet, diapers and other baby items for this family thanks to thoughtful donations to CCS. She also provided help with transportation costs while the baby was in the hospital so they could visit regularly. Both parents are very grateful for all the help and care provided through the Family Support & Connections Program and the love of the CCS family.

Shannon and Dave are facing many challenges in her life, and the road ahead will not be easy. With your thoughtful support, we will help them continue to take positive steps forward.
