As an “angel” you are committing to sponsor a family for Christmas.
Christmas is a special, magical time for young children, so we try to focus on them. That said, we also know that stress of parents drastically affects the entire household, so we try to alleviate some of that stress by examining the entire family situation and finding creative ways to help each family stabilize and improve. The families we serve are going through very difficult times and could use a little Christmas spirit to shine their way.
How families are chosen
Families are chosen carefully depending on many factors. Those participating in our Self-Supporting Family programs (Housing, Family Support & Connections, Fathers Parenting, Refugee, and Immigration Services) are invited to be part of our Christmas Giving Program.
How to participate
2018 is a transition year for the CCS Christmas Giving Sponsored Family program. We are transitioning to a model where sponsors purchase gift cards and the parents use the gift cards to purchase gifts for their own family.
Sponsors who are new to the CCS Christmas Giving Program in 2018 are expected to purchase gift cards for their sponsored family. For this transitional year, sponsors who have participated in the CCS Christmas Giving Sponsored Family program in the past may either purchase gift cards or purchase gifts for their sponsored family. Next year (2019), all participating sponsors will be asked to purchase gift cards for their sponsored family. A more detailed explanation of this transition can be found below.

There are other ways to help families during the holidays!
Visit the Giving Tree at Valley River Center
Managed by the Eugene Active 20-30 Club, and select a white snowman ornament. All white snowmen ornaments are for children in CCS’ social service programs.
Host a “Basic Needs Giving Tree”
At your office, church or group! We supply the ornaments of basic needs items families struggle to provide like household cleaning supplies, basic kitchen and bath items, and more, and you provide the tree! As always, all items go directly to families at no charge.
Donate wrapping paper, tape and gift tags for families living on a tight budget
Help with the Christmas Giving Program as a volunteer. Some opportunities include helping wrap gifts in December, helping us host a Christmas Celebration Event at each community service center and more.
On behalf of Catholic Community Services of Lane County, thank you for your kind and generous spirit. Through this family-to-family support, our hope is to bring love, peace and joy to our struggling neighbors in need.
