Ice Storm Assistance Program

In response to the devastating ice storm, Springfield Utility Board (SUB) is providing crucial bridge funding for eligible SUB electric customers who faced severe financial hardships. This assistance is aimed at easing the burden of unexpected expenses from prolonged power outages, ensuring expedited relief for those hit hardest. Recognizing the need for broader support, SUB has also appealed to the State for additional funds to help cover costs, and will guide customers to these resources if and when they become available.

Through a partnership with Catholic Community Services (CCS), SUB is offering one-time aid of up to $250 for qualifying SUB electric households. The application window opens at 8:00 am on Monday, March 18th, 2024 and will remain open until all funds are allocated. CCS will be reviewing applications on behalf of SUB and will distribute funds via Visa gift cards by April 5th, 2024.

Please note that these are supplemental funds; customers may pursue other reimbursement options for storm-related expenses. SUB is here to help bridge the gap for those most financially vulnerable and is committed to supporting our community's recovery. Stay tuned to our website for updates, especially regarding potential State-funded assistance programs.

To Qualify:

2. Must have been financially impacted by the ice storm power outages and be able to provide proof in the form of receipts, documentation of expenses, etc. at time of gift card pick-up.
