Connected Across Cultures
Why World Refugee Day Matters
Every year on June 20, the world pauses to honor the courage, resilience, and contributions of refugees and displaced people everywhere. Here in Lane County, that recognition is personal. Our neighbors — people who have fled violence, persecution, and instability — have built lives, raised families, and strengthened our community. They deserve to be celebrated, supported, and seen.
This year, as refugee and immigrant families face growing uncertainty, showing up matters more than ever.
