Volunteer
Food Room Volunteers – Eugene and Springfield
Christmas Giving Program Coordinator (Click for Job Description)
Volunteers are the lifeblood of Catholic Community Services and play a key role in everything we do. Look over the following list of volunteer options and let us know how you’d like to help.
To learn more about how you can get started with any of these volunteer options, please contact Yolanda Mulhern at 541-345-3628 ext. 316 or complete our Volunteer Interest Form.
Distribute Food. We distribute food to homeless and low-income persons every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at our Eugene and Springfield service centers. Volunteers help re-stock the shelves and assist our guests as they make their food selections.
Organize Clothing. We collect donated clothing and give it away to people in need at our Eugene and Springfield service centers. Volunteers are needed to help sort and organize clothing. Individual volunteers or small groups of volunteers can come in and help sort and organize clothes.
Support a Material Donation Drive. One of the ways we collect clothing and other items to give away to those who are in need is by conducting periodic collection drives in the community. For example, we sponsor a “Winter Clothing Drive” in January and February, a “Personal Hygiene/Personal Care” products drive in August, and so on. In every drive, we ask churches and businesses to put out collection bins and promote donations of the targeted items during the drive. Volunteers help by finding new collection locations, helping deliver collection bins, picking up donated items at each location on a weekly basis during the drive period (usually 4 weeks), and picking up and returning the bins at the end of the drive.
Work in the Office. Volunteers help with data entry, filing, and other administrative tasks. It’s not glamorous, but it’s a great way to help.
Help in the Garden. We have a garden adjacent to our Springfield food distribution program. The produce we grow is distributed to those in need. Volunteers work in the garden throughout the much of the year.
Work Projects. Periodically we get groups of volunteers together to do a specific clean up or painting project at one of our community service center. These are short-term volunteer jobs that typically take a few hours on a weekend.
Plan and Organize a Fundraising Event. Many volunteers help plan and organize our Annual Dinner. Volunteers also help prepare and conduct smaller events in the homes and businesses of our supporters.
